As you trek higher, the landscape transforms from verdant valleys to rugged, glacial terrain, surrounded by peaks that pierce the sky-Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and the towering Everest.
You’ll pass through Sherpa villages like Namche Bazaar, a bustling mountain town alive with local markets, bakeries, and trekkers from around the world. Every village is a glimpse into the Sherpa way of life, filled with kindness, resilience, and rich Buddhist culture. Visit Tengboche Monastery, where monks gather in daily prayer amidst awe-inspiring mountain vistas, adding a sense of peace and spirituality to your journey.
As you approach Everest Base Camp, the air thins, and the anticipation builds. Standing at base camp, surrounded by the world’s mightiest mountains and the Khumbu Icefall’s icy splendor, you feel both humbled and exhilarated. But the true crown jewel awaits—Kala Patthar. Today we walk alongside arid terraces with awesome views of mountains on all sides. We pass through Phulung Karpo, the camp site of the first successful Everest Expedition in 1953 then onwards uphill to to the memorial site. After the memorial site it is an easy walk in the fairly even trail. As we continue towards our destination, the sight of Mt. Pumori (7138 m/ 23418 ft) comes into view. Then the trail descends and curves, paving way for Mt Cholatse, Mt Thamserku and others to appear before us and after a short while we reach Dughla. Walking steeply up at first onto the edge of the Khumbu Glacier. Here you come across scores of memorial cairns commemorating climbers and Sherpa’s that have died on the mountains. The path then slowly climbs along the left hand side of the glacier to Lobuche (4,940m/16,208ft), a large village with several tea houses.

Contouring along the valley side, the trail leads on to the moraine of the Khumbu Glacier and becomes quite vague, weaving between mounds of rubble. After about 3 hours we will eventually reach base camp near the foot of the Khumbu Icefall. For those visiting base camp in the spring, it is a chance to meet teams making an ascent of the mountain. Base Camp is actually spread over quite a wide area and we will spend some time wandering through it and getting a sense of what it must be like to be camped here for two whole months, whilst attempting the mountain.

We retrace our steps to Lobuche, and return down the Khumbu Valley, stopping for a break in Dugla. With views of the stunning peak of Ama Dablam ahead of us, we continue along the flat valley to Pheriche.

NOTICE:
The Government of Nepal has announced an issue for the flight operation to Lukla. Most of the flights to Lukla will commence from Ramechhap until further notice to avoid the heavy traffic congestion in Kathmandu airport. The airport in Ramechhap is located 130km from Kathmandu (approximately 5 hours drive). Flight to Lukla from Ramechhap airport is almost guaranteed unless the flight is canceled due to bad weather conditions. Such cancellations can occur even in the best time of the year, so please be well informed about the alternatives to Lukla flight cancellations.

In Kathmandu, you will stay in a 4 Star Hotel and along the trekking routes, we provide you best available rooms. In high season the accommodation are crowded and full. So we recommend early booking. Accommodation are on a twin sharing basis. Single supplement will cost extra and depends on availability. Hotels in Kathmandu can be upgraded to 5 Star in an additional cost.
In Kathmandu breakfast, welcome dinner and farewell dinner are provided. While on trekking, we provide breakfast, lunch and dinner. Each day dinner and breakfast will be at teahouses/lodges where you will stay and lunch will be on the way. We make it sure that the food is hygienic and at the same time suits your palate.
Foods cooked in lodges and guesthouses on the way are pasta, tuna bakes, noodles, potatoes, eggs, daal bhat (rice and lentils), bread, soup, fresh vegetables and even some desserts like apple pies, pancakes. You will find a lot of garlic on the menu because it assists with acclimatization. In many larger villages you may find some meat items on the menu but we do not suggest eating meat as they are carried by porter or yak from lower altitude without refrigeration.
The spring time from March to May and the Autumn months from September to November is considered the best months for Everest Base Camp Trekking.
Anyone who is fit and healthy and have a habit of walking for few hours a day can do this trek. However walking in higher altitudes is more physically demanding than walking in lower altitudes and on some days you will have to walk for 10 hours. Aerobic exercise and jogging regularly prior to the trip is recommended to enhance your stamina. Participants with pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lungs and blood diseases are required to consult their doctor before taking the trip. It is also advised that you inform Eve Holidays about the medical condition before booking the trek. Eve Holidays organizes small group trip departures, but we would suggest booking a solo private trek with us if you think you will need longer hours to cover the same distance and cannot keep up with the group.
All of Eve Holidays trekking itineraries are planned keeping in mind the risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). Going up at higher altitude too fast causes a medical condition called AMS which is serious enough to kill if neglected. We are well aware that it is essential to allow you sufficient time for acclimatization to minimize the risk. However it is important to remember that some people are more vulnerable than others. So we suggest to avoid alcohol and drink enough water and get good night sleep during the trek.
Everest Base Camp Trek is a walking tour and it does not involve any technical skills. If you are physically fit and mentally prepared to trek, it works well. You will find some challenging sections at Kala Patthar and Everest, so it would be better if you start following our trekking training guidelines. The earlier, the better.
March April May and Sept Oct Nov are the best time to trek
International flights are not included in the trip cost.
Yes we give you the flexibility to change the travel date or amend the itinerary and that has to be in written and at least 25 days before departure date. The cost incurred due to the changes has to be borne by you.
Booking deposits are transferable to anyone you want for any time in future. For cancelling the trip, cancellation policy in our booking terms and conditions will apply.
Our trip with Eve Holidays was perfect. We got more than we expected. They are very professional and was attentive in small details from before arriving to Nepal and during the whole trek. We felt so special and loved the experience. We will certainly travel with them in future.
Trip was well organized and was happy with all the arrangement. Trekking guide was very knowledgeable. The mountain view was amazing. Meals and accommodation we had was the best available in the route. Maina helped us lot with the doubts and smooth planning since our first email. Thank you Maina and thanks to Eve Holidays team for this perfect trip for us.
Me and my son did Everest Base Camp Trek with Eve Holidays. After exchanged emails with Maina and she was very quick to respond and answer everything to our satisfaction. Everything from picking up from airport to the whole trip was perfect. Our trekking guide was the best, very professional and knowledgeable. We are completely satisfied with them and we recommend this company to everyone and of course would go back with them if we go to Nepal again.
Everest Base Camp was the trek recommended by my friends who had travelled to Nepal earlier. Doing my research in google I found this company and I contacted them and I was impressed by the immediate response and the reasonable medium price they had for their services and I appreciate that what I got in return was beyond my expectation. The hotel, trekking guide, meals, yes the lodges during trek had basic facilities but they provided the best ones available on the trek and meals were nepalese dal bhat and noodles mostly. Yes all types of drinks were available. We must not forget that it was in remote mountains at altitude higher than 3500 meters and everything available has to be carried by the porters or by helicopter. In overall my experience with Eve Holidays was great and I can honestly recommend this company to anyone traveling to Nepal.
It was our second time in Nepal and first time with Eve Holidays. Thanks to Maina for arranging the smooth and wonderful trek for us. We kept changing travel dates and kept changing itinerary as well changing hotels. But she was always happily made the arrangements perfectly the way we wanted. We are extremely happy doing Everest Base Camp trek with this company and certainly will book with them when we come back again to Nepal
