Weather

Weather in the mountains is difficult to predict. Spring season (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) is considered the best months for Everest Base Camp Trek and fly back by helicopter. Winter (Dec, Jan, Feb) is also good for trekking, only issue is cold. The weather is sunny and warm with outstanding views but the nights are cold and can fall to freezing in higher elevations. Trekking in summer/monsoon (June, July, August) will be affected by rain but summer trek could be a good choice for botanist. The trekking routes are crowded during spring and autumn but during monsoon and winter the routes are not packed

Experience Required

Anyone who is fit and healthy and have a habit of walking for few of hours a day can do this trek. However walking in higher altitudes is more physically demanding than walking in lower altitudes. Exercising and jogging regularly for some weeks prior to the trip is a good idea to enhance your stamina. Participants with pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lungs and blood diseases are required to consult their doctor before taking the trip. It is also advised that you inform Eve Holidays about the medical condition before booking the trek.

Acclimatization

All of Eve Holidays trekking itineraries are planned keeping in mind the risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). Going up at higher altitude too fast causes a medical condition called AMS which is serious enough to kill if neglected. We are well aware that it is essential to allow you sufficient time for acclimatization to minimize the risk. However it is important to remember that some people are more vulnerable than others.

KATHMANDU LUKLA FLIGHT STATUS

The Government of Nepal has announced an issue for the flight operation to Lukla. Most of the flights to Lukla will commence from Ramechhap until further notice to avoid the heavy traffic congestion in Kathmandu airport. The airport in Ramechhap is located 130km from Kathmandu (approximately 3-4 hours drive).

Alternatively, helicopter arrangements can be made on 5 people sharing basis with the addition of USD 500 for one way flight per person to change your airplane flights to the helicopter. We will try to coordinate and form groups at the airport for this arrangement, but we cannot guarantee it. The drive to Ramechhap and flight to Lukla is almost always guaranteed unless the flight is canceled due to bad weather conditions.

Wow, trip of a lifetime! I want to thank the staff of Eve Holidays for a fantastic job. I got a great feedback from Maina on all my questions from the start before I confirmed my trip, to the final preparation and throughout the trip. Bishnu, our guide was super friendly and great help. Maina and Bishnu, we love you. The people from Iceland. All the best.

Kari Karason, Iceland

I have travelled to many parts of the world due to my work and have enjoyed my holidays along with work. I hardly had chance to travel to Nepal for work. So after a long time planning I finally decided to go for trek in Nepal. While looking for treks I found this company Eve Holidays and I got very quick and positive response from them. After exchanging some emails I was convinced to book the trek with them. I am really impressed by the standard of service they provide. Everything was perfect. They are very professional in their job. My trekking guide Pasang was very much informative and caring. I would recommend Eve Holidays to everyone looking for trekking in Nepal.

Jacob, United Kingdom

We are just back from trek. I am overwhelmed by the beautiful mountain views and the life of people in the mountains. We are thankful to Eve Holidays team for this great experience. Everything was well organized. We had Helicopter in few minutes after we were at Gorakshep and the views were amazing flying past the worlds highest mountain and himalayan glaciers. Hotel in Kathmandu was one of the best in Thamel and food was delicious. Our guide Pasang was born in mountains and very knowledgeable. We had farewell dinner with Maina in a traditional restaurant with Nrpalese Cultural Dance. Born in a hilly region of Nepal Maina is a strong lady and single mother making her space in between the fierce competition of tourism businesses run by men. In overall we appreciate that we got more than we expected and we are glad that we can honestly recommend this company to anyone travelling to Nepal.
