Day 1: Arrive and sightseeing in Paro 2,250m/7,382ft
On arrival at Paro airport you will be received by our representative and escorted to your pre booked hotel after immigration formalities After lunch, visit the Ta Dzong, once a fortified lookout tower that is now the National Museum. Then walk down the trail to visit the Rinpung Dzong (fortress of the heap of jewels). Visit Kichu Lhakhang, the oldest temple in the country and from there you will be taken to the Drugyal Dzong (Bhutan Victory Fort), which was built in 1646 to commemorate Bhutan's victory over Tibetan invaders during the 1600s. On a clear day you can see Mount Jumolhari, Bhutan's second-highest mountain at 7,314meters.

Day 2: Acclimatization hike to Tiger’s Nest 3,180m/10,434ft 4-5 hrs

After breakfast, hike to Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) Monastery, which is Bhutan's most famous monastery situated at 3180 meters. Guru Rinpoche is said to have flown on the back of a tigress to meditate in a cave where Taktsang Monastery stands now. Lunch will be served in a restaurant located about halfway up on the mountain. The monastery is perched on the edge of a steep cliff, about 900 meters above Paro Valley. You will hike down to Paro for overnight stay

Day 3: Hike to Wangditse Gompa followed by sightseeing in Thimphu 2,320m/7,612ft

Today we drive to BBS Tower. Then we hike for 1 hour to Wangditse Gompa. From this point we get great view of Samtenling Palace which is home to the fourth King and Dorje Drak meditation retreat on the hillside above.  After visiting the Wangditse Gompa, we return to Thimphu. On the way, we visit a Zoo to see Takin which is a national animal of Bhutan. After lunch, we visit the King’s Memorial Chorten  which was built in memory of the third King of Bhutan who reigned from 1952 to 1972, the nunnery temple, the National Library (which houses ancient manuscripts) and the National Institute of Traditional Medicine. We might also visit Textile Museum, the Handicraft Emporium, and the traditional paper factory and the Tashichho Dzong.

Day 4: Thimphu to Punakha, Hike to Lungchutse Monastery 3,100m/10,171ft 2 hrs

Today we drive to Dochu La Pass at 3,100 meters. On a clear day we see amazing views of the Himalayas from here. Passing through rhododendron forests, we hike for 2 hours to Lungchutse Monastery from 108 chortens.  We hike back to Dochu La Pass walking along the high ridges with colorful Buddhist prayer flags and beautiful view of Himalayas. After lunch we drive through fir, rhododendron and hemlock forests. On the way, we stop at Metshina Village and take a 20-minute walk to Chimi Lhakhang, a fertility temple dedicated to the Divine Madman or Lama Drukpa Kuenley.

Day 5: Punakha to Paro, Hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten 2,250m/7,382ft 2 hrs

Today we start early and drive 12 km north of Punakha and begin our 2-hour hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten. It is located on a beautiful hillock called Ngezergang that has elaborate paintings dedicated to the old sect of Buddhism. We then hike further to Punakha. On the way back, we visit the second oldest and the second largest Dzong in Bhutan, the Punakha Dzong, built in 1637.  We then drive back to Paro to spend our last evening.

Accommodation

Hotels in Bhutan are approved and classified by the government as grade A, B and C. These government approved hotels are equivalent to 3-4 star hotels elsewhere. Based on availability at the time of the booking, A and B category hotels will be provided in this tour. We will be accommodated in A category hotel in Paro and Thimpu and B category hotel in Punakha. 

 

Food

All meals will be provided in this tour. Indian, Chinese and Continental cuisine always plenty to choose from. Local Bhutanese food are spicy like the Indian food.


 

Transportation

We use comfortable and reliable vehicles for sightseeing, city tours and pickups; whereas we use the best 4WD SUVs as our support vehicle. These vehicles are extremely sturdy, spacious and reliable assuring comfortable journey. For larger groups, we also use supported trucks to carry your luggage. You will have a vehicle, an English speaking Bhutanese guide and a licensed driver at your disposal at all times.

The best season for this tour is any time of the year except for the rainy months of July and August.


 

Bhutan Visa
We handle the visa procedures for you. The Bhutanese government sanction visa only after the receipt of full payment in advance. The visa fee is included in our tour price. You need to email us the copy of your passport for visa procedures. Actual Bhutan VISA is stamped in your passport on arrival to Paro airport. Without visa clearance number, tourists cannot board the flight or enter the country. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs forwards a copy of this visa clearance to the concerned Druk Air stations and other entry points; we also fax a copy of the visa clearance document to our clients for their reference. While the actual visa is stamped on arrival, the initial visa clearance is also required at the time of issuing Druk Air Tickets.2 copies of original passport-sized photographs are required on arrival in the country.

A travel insurance policy that covers medical expenses, evacuation, theft and loss is recommended.
