Nepal deports 53 foreigners over Corona Virus issue

19th March 2020

53 foreigners from different countries have been deported by Immigration office at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu Nepal during the period of 8 days from March 10 to 18. They were denied entry on the grounds that some of them were unable to produce the Health Certificate and some were without visa. The deported foreigners were 7 from China, 7 from France, 6 from Japan, 6 from UK, 5 from Australia, 4 from Bhutan, 3 from USA, 3 from Netherland, 2 from Czech Republic, 2 from Italy, 2 from Israel, and 1 each from Hongkong, India, Malaysia, Canada, Afghanistan and Mexico


2 trekkers gone missing in Annapurna Circuit Trek

According to Trekking Agents Association of Nepal (TAAN), 2 trekkers from Netherland, trekking on their  own, Madeleine Der Pirk and Algae Spronken have become out of contact while heading towards Thorung La Pass from Jomsom. They had started the trek on March 9, 2020.

Update on On-Arrival Visa to Nepal

From today 10th March 2020 onwards to untill another notice, the Government of Nepal has decided to temporarily suspend visa-on-arrival for the nationals of the following 8 countries:

  • People's Republic of China, including Special Administrative Regions
  • Islamic Republic of Iran
  • Italy
  • Republic of Korea
  • Japan
  • Spain
  • Germany
  • France

However, those willing to visit Nepal can obtain visa beforehand from the Nepali Missions abroad. Applicants in these countries are required to submit a recently issued health certificate with the visa application.

Unfortunately due to the global outbreak of Novel Corona Virus, taking into account the global recommendations and measure of the WHO, the Government of Nepal has decided to temporarily suspend visa-on-arrival for the nationals of the following countries, effective from 10 March, 2020 until further notice.

Updates on Annapurna Base Camp Trekking Route

16th February 2020

All the Annapurna Base Camp Trekking Trail that was closed after the recent avalanche, has been opened and trekkers have started trekking to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) route again. 8 trekkers have reached the ABC area and another 5 trekkers have arrived at the Chhomrong checkpoint on their way to the ABC last Friday, that is 14th Feb 2020.

However, the trekking route is still considered dangerous. All trekkers are advised to travel through registered trekking agencies to mitigate the risks. Please, remain more attentive while trekking towards Machhapuchhre Base Camp. According to the weather forecast, it is said that weather is expected to change from February 17 and chances of snowfall on February 21 and 22.
